The brand owner, Allegiance Retail Services, revealed Tuesday, April 21 that a Pathmark Daily store will open at 625 Merrick Avenue in East Meadow, according to industry publication Grocery Dive.
Allegiance owns a variety of grocery brands in the tri-state region and will be converting a Super Foodtown store into the Pathmark Daily, with 15,000 square feet on the main floor, Newsday reported.
The store will carry standard grocery fare and Best Yet-branded items, according to a press release shared Monday, April 27. It is designed to create a “fast, hassle-free shopping experience emphasizing strong value and quality,” Allegiance COO Joseph Fantozzi said.
Store operator Mike Said, who currently runs the Super Foodtown, told Newsday he plans to drop prices under the new brand in hopes of increasing foot traffic.
Pathmark’s owners filed for bankruptcy in the summer of 2015, leading to the closure of dozens of stores throughout the tri-state area and several accounts of shoppers rushing in for last-minute bargains.
The brand has remained nearly dormant since then, with a single store operating on Albany Avenue in Brooklyn since 2019. Allegiance bought the name during the bankruptcy process in 2016.
