Dutchess County Executive Sue Serino announced on Wednesday, Aug. 5, that a mobile CVS pharmacy is now open in the parking lot of the former CVS building in Pawling at 26 East Main St.
The temporary pharmacy comes after a July 4 fire leveled the CVS and the adjoining Pawling Yoga & Wellness building. The blaze erupted after powerful thunderstorms swept through the area, igniting what Pawling Fire Chief Everett White described as one of the largest fires the department had ever battled.
Following the loss of the pharmacy, CVS temporarily routed prescription services to its Dover Plains location while officials worked to establish a replacement closer to home.
According to Serino, restoring local access to medications became a top priority in the weeks after the fire.
"When life hands you a setback, you roll with the punches, or in this case, you roll in a brand-new mobile pharmacy," she wrote in a social media post on Wednesday.
The mobile unit will provide prescription services while plans for a permanent Pawling CVS move forward.
Serino credited Gov. Kathy Hochul, CVS, Village of Pawling Mayor Lauri Taylor, and local leaders for helping bring the temporary pharmacy to the community.
The county executive also said all employees who worked at the Pawling CVS have been reassigned to nearby locations.
The temporary pharmacy is open:
- Monday through Friday: 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.;
- Saturday: 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.;
- Sunday: 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
