Matthew James Sherman, 42, of Foster, Rhode Island, was identified as the driver killed when his truck crashed into the Killingly home at 1356 Hartford Pike, Connecticut State Police said.

Investigators said Sherman was driving a 2023 GMC Sierra west on Route 101 when he misjudged a curve, sending his truck off the road, where he hit multiple mailboxes, a street sign, and then the home.

The house was unoccupied at the time of the crash.

State police said the house suffered “catastrophic” damage. The truck slammed into the front right side of the home and destroyed the front portion of the building.

No other injuries were reported.
