Devan Nolet, of Mansfield, was killed in a Thursday, May 15, crash shortly before 6 p.m. outside Apollo Pizza on Route 32 in Windham, Connecticut State Police said Monday.
Investigators said a 2019 silver Ford Explorer was heading north on Route 32 and attempting to turn left into the Apollo Pizza driveway. At the same time, a 2009 Suzuki GSX-R750 motorcycle was traveling southbound when it slammed into the SUV’s right front end, police said.
Nolet was thrown from the motorcycle and crashed into a utility pole. He suffered critical injuries and was rushed to Windham Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead, police said.
The impact pushed the Ford Explorer forward into the rear of a parked 2021 white Ram 1500, investigators said.
Dozens of friends and family shared memorials to Nolet on social media. They said he was a loyal man known for his sense of humor and kindness.
"You’re the type of person whose smile could literally light up a room, and I don’t say that often," Jess Gural posted on Facebook. "My thoughts and prayers go out to the rest of your friends and family. The loss of you will leave a void for so many."
"Our lives will never be the same without you," Denis Nolet wrote on the social media site. "I can only hope to feel your infectious energy while you look down upon us. Your spot will always be there at family dinners, and you will be in every one of our hearts ... It's not goodbye ever ... But I will see you later, my brother."
State police said the investigation remains active.
