Between December 2025 and May 2026, officers received three reports involving a man, later identified as Gary Garadetsky, discharging what appeared to be a firearm in commercial parking lots along the Blackwood Clementon Road corridor, causing property damage, Gloucester Township police said. These incidents prompted heightened emergency responses from officers, as businesses and nearby individuals reported active gunfire in the area, police said.

During the investigation, detectives identified Garadetsky as the suspect and determined the reported firearm was suspected to be a device marketed as a “less lethal” or “self-defense” weapon system that utilizes solid metal kinetic ball projectiles, police said.

A search warrant led to the seizure of four of those devices, along with numerous solid metal ball projectiles, police said. Garadetsky was charged with three counts of possession of prohibited weapons and devices, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose and criminal mischief, police said.
