Born in Buckingham, Quebec, Lemieux debuted with the Montreal Canadiens in 1983 after being selected in the second round of the NHL Draft and went on to win four Stanley Cups during his NHL career.
He captured championships with the Canadiens in 1986, the New Jersey Devils in 1995 and 2000, and the Colorado Avalanche in 1996, earning the Conn Smythe Trophy as playoff MVP during the Devils’ 1995 title run.
Lemieux also won a QMJHL championship and playoff MVP honors with the Verdun Junior Canadiens in 1985 and represented Canada internationally, winning gold at the 1985 World Junior Championships and the 1987 Canada Cup. He later played for the Phoenix Coyotes, Dallas Stars, and San Jose Sharks before retiring.
