Terrence Cramer, 41, was shot and killed on Sunday, March 29, at a Stratford home of a woman he was seeing.
Police said Jabari Bush broke into the house in a jealous rage after finding the woman with another man. Investigators said he punched her and shouted, "You're here with another man," before shooting Cramer in the upper leg. Cramer later died from the injury.
Bush, of West Haven, now faces charges including murder and home invasion. He is being held on a $2 million bond.
The loss has hit close to home for many in Bridgeport.
Cramer served as a firefighter in the city for nearly a decade. His union described him as a dedicated public servant and a loyal friend who loved serving his community.
That community is now rallying to support his two young sons, Jaxon, 10, and Jagger, 9.
A GoFundMe created for the boys has raised $4,300 as of Wednesday, April 1.
The campaign said Cramer was proud to serve as a Bridgeport firefighter, but being a father was the greatest honor of his life.
Terrence proudly served as a firefighter in Bridgeport for 9½ years, dedicating his life to protecting and helping others. Every shift, he showed up ready to serve his community with courage, compassion, and strength. Being a firefighter wasn’t just his job — it was a calling. Above all, Terrence was a devoted father. His sons, Jaxon (10) and Jagger (9), were the center of his world. Everything he did was for them, and he loved them beyond words. The loss of their father leaves an unimaginable void in their young lives."
The money raised will go to support the boys' daily needs, education, and future opportunities.
