The 77-year-old Piano Man will auction off his collection Friday, Nov. 20 and Saturday, Nov. 21 at the Javits Center in Manhattan, auctioneer Gooding Christie’s announced Monday, Sept. 28.
More than 70 of Joel’s bikes from his extensive collection will be available to the highest bidders, Gooding Christie’s said. All lots will be sold without reserve.
“I've always been drawn to bikes built by people who cared about getting every detail right,” Joel said in a press release. “I've loved building this collection. Now it's someone else's turn to hit the road.”
A motorcycle rider for much of his life, Joel closed down his Oyster Bay, NY, store, 20th Century Cycles, in August 2025. He announced plans for the auction at that time.
Among the bikes for sale will be a 1978 Triumph T140 Bonneville, which Madison Square Garden gave Joel for his 150th sold-out show. The motorcycle comes with a matching helmet listing every single show and year he played at the arena.
A preview of select lots will be available at Christie's Rockefeller Center from Thursday, Oct. 8 to Monday, Oct. 12.
