Benjamin Andrew Brinker, 34, of Salisbury Township, is accused of barging into the woman’s Paradise Township home on the 200 block of South Belmont Road on Monday, Aug. 19, around 3:45 p.m.
Brinker allegedly fired a stun gun at the victim, striking her near the heart, then punched her repeatedly as she fell to the floor. The masked attacker, dressed in all black clothing, fled on foot toward Strasburg Road when the woman’s husband appeared, investigators said.
The victim suffered multiple broken bones in her face, severe bruising, and a possible concussion, according to troopers.
Police recovered a cracked cartridge cover, wires, and serial tags from the stun gun at the scene. Investigators traced the weapon to Brinker through the manufacturer, who confirmed he bought the device earlier this year and purchased ten replacement cartridges just three days before the assault.
A Pequea Valley school bus captured video of Brinker walking along South Belmont Road minutes before the attack, and troopers later tied him to a white 2014 Toyota Corolla seen parked nearby. A state police license plate reader also logged his car in the area about an hour before the crime, according to court records.
Brinker waived his preliminary hearing before Judge Raymond Sheller on Tuesday, Sept. 3. His case will now proceed to county court.
He remains in Lancaster County Prison on $1.5 million bail after the District Attorney’s Office moved to increase the amount.
