Avery Alexander Bost, 31, of Upper Marlboro, was identified as the driver of a Maserati sedan involved in the crash, according to Maryland State Police. Troopers from the College Park Barrack responded shortly before 1:30 a.m. to a crash on northbound Branch Avenue near Allentown Road, police said.

Investigators said a trooper’s marked patrol vehicle was parked behind an unoccupied vehicle in the left lane, and a second marked patrol vehicle was parked behind it, both with emergency lights activated. Police said the Maserati struck the rear of the second trooper’s vehicle, pushing it into a trooper who was outside his vehicle and into the rear of the first patrol vehicle.

Both troopers were taken by ambulance to a local hospital and have since been released, according to authorities. Bost was charged with suspected impaired driving and related traffic offenses, police said.
