Anthony Dingle, 41, was involved in a crash in the 1400 block of Durham Road in Wallingford on Friday, March 20, police said.

Officers believe Dingle crossed the center line and crashed into the pole, causing significant damage to his vehicle and the pole. He was the only person in the car and was able to exit the vehicle on his own.

Police said they spotted a loaded revolver outside the vehicle, but Dingle is not allowed to have a gun.

Officers arrested him and charged Dingle with operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs; criminal possession of a pistol or revolver (seven counts); carrying a pistol without a permit; and carrying a dangerous weapon in a motor vehicle, Wallingford police said.

He was released after posting a $25,000 surety bond.
