Authorities announced on Friday, Aug. 7, that they had made arrests in two fatal cold-case shootings in Hamden from July 2020 and June 2021.
Brian Backman, 19, faces a murder charge in the death of Kaymar Tanner, police said.
Tanner, 22, was fatally shot on Newbury Street in July 2020. Hamden detectives and several other agencies spent six years investigating the killing.
Backman was also among more than a dozen people federally indicted in June, according to officials. That case involves alleged gang activity. The accusations include racketeering, murder, attempted murder, drug trafficking and firearms trafficking.
Police also announced an arrest in the killing of Jonquay Morrison.
Gunfire broke out at the Wheels of Souls motorcycle club in June 2021. Officers found Morrison, 38, suffering from several gunshot wounds in the roadway.
Emergency crews took him to a hospital. He later died.
Detectives worked with state and federal agencies before arresting Curtis Cole, officials said. Cole faces a federal murder indictment and other charges.
