Driver Rescued From Pond In Fairfax County By Virginia State Police Troopers Virginia State Police troopers had to make a bold rescue on Sunday night when a 40-year-old woman splash landed in a Fairfax County pond, officials say. Two troopers were called shortly before 9:45 p.m. on Oct. 20, to a stretch of eastbound lanes on I-66, when a woman went off the road and into a retention pond near exit 60 (Route 123).  The vehicle became submerged, according to police, and the driver was trapped, leading to a brave rescue by the troopers, who were able to get her out of the vehicle through its sunroof.
