Death Of Weehawken Man Killed In Newark Crash Leaves Void In Hearts Of Many
Chiekh Faye was a man who always greeted people "with a big beautiful and arms wide open." Faye, a 35-year-old Weehawken resident and a native of Senegal, was killed in a car crash on Sunday, July 9 in Newark at U.S. Route 1 and 9 North and McClellan Street. Hundreds of people are expected to turn out for a music festival organized by Bergen County teens. Bergenfest is a "local concert on a global mission" with Wé McDonald of NBC's "The Voice" headlining the June 29 event. Individuals from four Hudson Valley counties were among 118 people from southern New York arrested for violating U.S. immigration laws during a five-day crackdown in mid-January by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). The detail, called "Operation Cross Check," was conducted in New York City, Long Island and the Hudson Valley from Jan. 14-18. Persons in Westchester, Dutchess, Putnam and Rockland were among those arrested. ICE did not release a breakdown of the number of arrests by region.
