The initial incident happened on the 3500 block of Mount Vernon Avenue, bringing a large police presence to the scene. Police said only that a search was under way at 1:30 p.m. Fifteen minutes later, thanks to the assistance of a Fairfax-1 helicopter, a person of interest was in custody, authorities said.
