A wildland fire that began behind a Putnam County business took several days to put out and led to the issuing of a ticket, officials announced. The fire was reported on Friday, Jan. 3, at 2:15 p.m. in a swampy area behind Petersen's Patterson Greenhouses in Patterson, the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation announced on Wednesday, Jan. 8. Firefighters in Virginia are still working to contain a tricky brush fire that broke out days ago at the Shenandoah National Park due to a lightning strike. Officials say that as of 5 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 12, a 2.5-acre fire was still smoldering at the park, specifically in some tricky terrain that crews have struggled to navigate, though they were able to establish a fire line to help contain any flare-ups. Prosecutor: Garden State Parkway Wildfire 'Intentionally Set'
Authorities say that Sunday's wildland fire, which jumped over the Garden State Parkway in Lakewood, was intentionally set. “We have located the origin of the fire and have concluded that the fire was intentionally set,” Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley D.
