DUI Driver Arrested After Train Collides With Car On Tracks Near Plauderville: Officials
A motorist was arrested for driving under the influence after their vehicle was struck by an NJ Transit train carrying about 450 passengers Monday evening, Nov. 25, officials said. The collision happened at approximately 5:40 p.m., west of the Plauderville Station in Garfield, an NJ Transit spokesperson said. The crash involved Port Jervis Line train #55, which departed Hoboken at 5:16 p.m. and was heading to Port Jervis. Two people were inside the vehicle at the time of the crash but were not injured. Service on Commuter Rail Kingston line was paused Friday evening, Oct. 7, after a train engine caught fire, officials said. The fire started from an electrical short in the relay cabinet of the train around 3:30 p.m., an MBTA spokesperson confirmed to Daily Voice. The disabled train was stopped at the Hanson MBTA station and was blocking Main Street (Route 27) as a result, Hanson Police said on Facebook. The rainfall from a strong storm system that swept through the area has moved east, but damaging winds remain. Winds out of the west at 25 miles per hour with gusts up to 50 miles per hour during the day on Friday, Nov. 1 could cause more power outages. Metro-North Experiences Hours-Long Delays

Metro-North experienced delays into and out of Grand Central Terminal due to a speed restriction resulting from track work starting at the tail end of the morning commute and continuing into the early afternoon. In a statement issued just before 8:30 a.m., Metro-North advised customers on the Harlem, Hudson and New Haven lines to listen for announcements at local stations. Delays were as long as 20 minutes at times.
