Car On Tracks Causes Train Derailment In York County, Officials Say
A train derailed in York County after hitting a vehicle on the tracks on Thursday, according to York County Office of Emergency Management spokesman Ted Czech. The train was hauling pulverized coal when it struck an unoccupied parked vehicle near Walton and Locust streets, Czech said in a statement. Train Derailed, 30 Cars Overturned In York County
Over 30 train cars-- including one carrying oil-- were overturned in a train derailment on Monday afternoon in York County, according to Emergency Dispatch Services. Crews were called to the scene of the train derailment at 3:10 p.m. Hazmat crews were initially called to the scene to assess a crude oil train car but no leaks were found, according to police. Campers were in the area at the time of the derailment but we're not asked to evacuate and no one was in danger, according to both dispatch and police. NJ Coast Train Derailment Prompts Modified Schedules
Special train schedules are in effect on the North Jersey Coast and Northeast Corridor lines due to last week's derailment in Central Jersey. The temporary schedules are in effect while repairs to damaged track and road bed are made after the Nov. 23 derailment of a New York-bound train between Perth Amboy and Woodbridge stations in Middlesex County.
