Orange Councilman Threatened Tow Truck Driver With Firearm: Prosecutor
Kerry Coley, a councilman in the City of Orange Township was arrested and charged on Monday, March 10, after he displayed a gun at a tow truck driver last October, authorities said. On Wednesday, Oct. 9, Coley displayed the gun to a tow truck driver who was in the process of towing a vehicle owned by Coley's relative, Essex County Prosecutor Theodore Stephens II and City of Orange Township Police Director Todd Warren said. A tractor-trailer got stuck under a bridge in South Brunswick, tying up traffic for hours, authorities said. At about 4 p.m. on Monday, July 24, South Brunswick police warned motorists to avoid Dean's Lane for the next five hours between Blackhorse Lane and Oaktree Road. Crash Splits Hawthorne Utility Pole
A 22-year-old driver refused hospitalization for a neck injury after a sedan split a utility pole Monday afternoon in Hawthorne. A PSE&G unit was summoned to assess the damage to the pole, although there was no loss of power in the area after the crash in the 100 block of Lafayette Avenue. Driver Taken Into Custody After Pulling Into Ridgewood Driveway
Ridgewood police took a driver into custody Wednesday afternoon -- apparently for being under the influence -- after she drove into a resident's driveway. A flatbed tow truck removed the four-door Ford Fusion from the Maltbie Avenue driveway to take it to an impound lot after the owner said it hit his car from behind. Midland Park police assisted Ridgewood officers with the investigation and arrest. It was unclear whether the homeowner and driver know one another. Boyd A. Loving contributed to this article.
