Franklin Lakes House Fire Doused
Firefighters quickly extinguished a Franklin Lakes house blaze before it could do more damage. Boxes apparently caught fire in the basement of the Summit Avenue home just off Route 208 shortly before 9 p.m. Tuesday, responders said. Firefighters had the flames knocked down within a half-hour, they said. The fire was declared under control minutes later. Mutual aid responders either at the scene or in coverage included firefighters from Fair Lawn, Midland Park, Ramsey, Waldwick and Wyckoff, responders said.

Police Investigating After 24-Year-Old Woman Found Dead In Westchester
Police in Westchester have launched an investigation after a 24-year-old woman was found dead inside an area home. Officers from the Mount Vernon Police Department were called to a Summit Avenue home at approximately 7 a.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 5, where there was a report of an unresponsive woman in the front vestibule of a residence. Upon arrival, police said that the officers found a 24-year-old woman - whose name has not been released - who was dead upon arrival. Prosecutor: Jury Finds Phillipsburg Man Guilty Of Sexually Assaulting 12-Year-Old Child
A jury found a Phillipsburg man guilty of sexually assaulting a 12-year-old child, authorities said. Gilberto Morales of Summit Avenue was found guilty of a three-count indictment Friday in Warren County Superior Court, Prosecutor James L. Pfeiffer said. Morales was convicted of aggravated sexual assault of a victim under 13, sexual assault of a victim under 13 with the defendant four years older, and endangering the welfare of a child, Pfeiffer said.
