An elderly woman and five firefighters were rescued from a raging house fire in Elmont that caused a structural collapse early Saturday, June 14, police announced. Worker Trapped After Porch Collapses In Western Mass
A construction worker received non-life-threatening injuries after being trapped during a partial structural collapse. The incident took place on Wednesday, June 2, at 783 Belmont Ave., when structural supports for the porch roof failed, trapping one worker, said the Springfield Fire and Emergency Management. The man was extricated by the Springfield Fire Department and transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, the department said.

Tree Crashes Through Occupied Home During Wind Storm
A tree came crashing down into an occupied home during Monday’s wild wind storm. The large tree knocked out power in the surrounding homes in a Hopedale neighborhood, firefighters said. Hopedale Firefighters were called to the homie at around 7:30 p.m., Monday, Nov. 30, for a report of “partial structural collapse.” People were home at the time of the disaster, but no injuries were reported, firefighters said.
