A 53-year-old South Brunswick police officer has been sentenced to five years in prison after admitting to stealing $75,000 from his Policeman's Benevolent Association chapter, authorities announced Wednesday, July 1. Jason Gassman pleaded guilty to theft earlier this year, Monmouth County Prosecutor Raymond Santiago said. Police ID 3 People Killed In Collision With School Bus In Central Jersey
Authorities have identified the three people killed when their Toyota Camry collided with a school bus in South Brunswick, authorities said. Ellen Brotman, 86, Alba Olivencia, 87, and Wilson Olivencia, 90, all of Monroe Township. were pronounced dead at the scene of the crash on Route 130 at 5:25 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 31, they said. What police in South Brunswick initially believed was a possible abduction turned out to be a big misunderstanding, police said. Authorities launched an investigation Wednesday, Aug. 3, when witnesses said they saw a woman bleeding from her head and yelling help being pulled into the cab of a tractor trailer.
