North Jersey School Districts Across County Lines Will Share Same Superintendent
A high school isn't the only thing Bloomingdale and Butler will be sharing. Starting Jan. 1, the two districts will share the same superintendent, ending Bloomingdale's longtime search. Dr. Daniel Johnson made the announcement to both "learning communities" in Passaic and Morris counties on Wednesday. Essex County Sheriff's K9 Unit To Be Disbanded By End Of Year
A petition has been created urging officials in Essex County to reverse a decision to shut down the sheriff's K-9 unit by the end of this month. The sheriff's office stressed that homes will be found for all the dogs when the unit is closed down. Wappingers Voters Decide To Keep Police Department
WAPPINGERS FALLS, N.Y. -- Wappingers Falls residents are apparently satisfied with their police department. Residents voted 486-294 to keep their police department Tuesday rather than entering into a shared services agreement with the county which could've saved taxpayers more than $700,000 a year. Last November, Dutchess County Supreme Court blocked an effort by the village to disband its police force and replace it with the Dutchess County Sheriff's Office, saying the village did not conduct an environmental review.
