A grim investigation is underway in Maryland after a husband and wife were found shot to death inside their home, authorities announced.
Baltimore County Police responded to the 3500 block of Avery Hill Drive on Tuesday, April 1, where they discovered Karen Franklin, 59, and Gary Franklin, 63, both dead from apparent gunshot wounds, officials said Wednesday.
According to police, a preliminary investigation suggests one of the victims died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound, though the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner will determine the official cause and manner of death.

A man allegedly shot a woman before turning the gun on himself at Hall Manor in Harrisburg early Wednesday morning, police said.
Harrisburg police were called to the 17 row of Hall Manor at 4:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 22, 2025, for a report of a shooting, according to a release.
When officers arrived, they found two adults, a man and a woman, suffering from gunshot wounds. Both victims were rushed to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries, police said.

SWAT: Armed Ridgefield Park Man, 58, Takes Own Life
A distraught Ridgefield Park man shot himself dead after barricading himself in his home Thursday night, authorities confirmed.
Scott DeGraw, 58, had recently lost a close friend and was “going through a tough situation,” one responder said.
A woman sustained minor injuries after trying to take a knife from him when police were called around 7:30 p.m., he said.
The area around the Main Street home near Grand Avenue was cordoned off and a SWAT team responded, along with borough, Bogota, Little Ferry and Ridgefield police, Lt. Arthur Jensen said.
