Strike Ends, Students Return To Woburn Schools
Woburn teachers are heading back to the classroom with a little more cash in their paychecks after reaching a tentative agreement between with the school committee and Mayor Scott Galvin. The Woburn Teacher's Association reached the agreement on Sunday, Feb. 5, just in time to return to school on Monday, Feb. 6. The strike lasted a week, beginning on Monday, Jan. 30, with demands for increased pay, smaller class sizes, and compensation for all workdays. School Superintendent In Western Mass Abruptly Resigns
A popular school superintendent in Western Massachusetts will be unexpectedly leaving his position at the end of the academic year as he pursues other opportunities in education. Hatfield School Superintendent Martin McEvoy announced this week that he will be stepping away from the district as of Wednesday, June 30 after a year and a half of navigating the district through the COVID-19 crisis. HS Coach Accused Of Dating Student Requires Investigation, School Committee Says
Three School Committee members are calling for an investigation into the actions of a city softball coach who allegedly had a romantic relationship with a student as well as how the school district responded to the news. Alberto Hernandez Jr., 42, of Chicopee, was the Central High School softball coach in Springfield who was forced to resign after a student said that the two began a relationship while she was a sophomore, according to MassLive.
