Westchester Medical Center Residents Ratify New Labor Contract After Months of Negotiations
After months of rallies, petitions, and high-pressure negotiations, nearly 500 doctors at Westchester Medical Center (WMC) have ratified a new contract. The deal was finalized Thursday night, July 17, under the leadership of newly appointed WMC CEO Dr. David Lubarsky, and comes just as a new class of medical interns begins its residency at the hospital. Supporters touted the deal for delivering long-fought improvements to wages and working conditions. Salary Increase For Elected Officials Passed By Dutchess Legislature
Elected officials in Dutchess are set to get bigger paychecks as soon as January following a close vote by the county legislature. The legislature voted 13-12 on Monday, June 10, on a resolution that will see salaries for elected officials in the county increased 3 percent, beginning at the start of officials’ next elected term in office. The resolution had bipartisan support and sponsorship, led by Republicans Don Sagliano and John Metzger and Democrat Barbara Jeter-Jackson. NYers Overwhelmingly Oppose Pay Raise That Will Make Cuomo Nation's Highest Paid Governor
Andrew Cuomo is poised to become the nation’s highest-paid governor, but most of his constituents aren't happy about it, according to a brand new poll. By a nearly two-to-one margin - 62 percent to 32 percent - New Yorkers oppose the legislature increasing Cuomo's salary to $200,000 this year following a midnight resolution that was approved earlier this month, according to a new Siena College poll. White Plains Teachers, School District, Reach Agreement On Contract
The White Plains School District and the city’s Teachers’ Association have settled on an agreement on a three-year contract that will include a 1.5 percent annual salary increase. The new contract was agreed upon by both parties as of Friday, Feb. 8, and it was officially voted on an approved Monday night at its meeting on Feb. 11. The deal becomes effective on July 1, and will last through June 30, 2022.
