Hackensack Police Search For Hit-Run SUV That Struck Wanted Offender, 17
A 17-year-old repeat offender from Hackensack who at first hid under a car and then tried to run from police was struck by an SUV whose driver kept going Tuesday afternoon. Police were looking for a newer-model dark-colored (possibly brown or pewter) Hyundai Santa Fe that lost its driver's side mirror, Capt. Darrin DeWitt said. The juvenile, who wasn't seriously injured, was wanted for an Oct. 26 armed robbery with a handgun and for failing to appear in the Family Division of Superior Court on previous complaints, among other offenses, DeWitt said. A toppled tractor-trailer closed the Route 80 entrance ramp in Hackensack Tuesday afternoon. The rig was hauling candles when it keeled over, closing the interstate's eastbound ramp at Polifly Road, responders said. The driver wasn't injured, they said. NJ Bail Reform Beneficiary: Convicted Armed Robber Caught With Drug Trove, Hackensack PD Says
A paroled armed robber who Hackensack police said they found with a variety of drugs -- including crack and heroin -- after he resisted arrest was freed by a judge on Friday. Drug officers approached Domique Giddings, 30, of Paterson as he sat in the 2000 Honda Accord near the corner of Mary Street and Polifly Road at 5 p.m. Tuesday, Capt. Frank Aquila said.
