After months of rallies, petitions, and high-pressure negotiations, nearly 500 doctors at Westchester Medical Center (WMC) have ratified a new contract. The deal was finalized Thursday night, July 17, under the leadership of newly appointed WMC CEO Dr. David Lubarsky, and comes just as a new class of medical interns begins its residency at the hospital. Supporters touted the deal for delivering long-fought improvements to wages and working conditions. Jersey City Doctor Struck, Killed By Vehicle In South Brunswick
A 75-year-old Jersey City doctor was fatally struck by a vehicle in South Brunswick on Thursday, July 10, authorities said. At 9:21 p.m., officers responded to Route 27 after Neville D’Rozario was struck by a 2015 Ford F150 while he was crossing the roadway, South Brunswick police said. D’Rozario was not in the crosswalk when he was hit, police said. D’Rozario was found bleeding and unconscious and was transported to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital where he was pronounced dead, police said. The driver remained on scene, police said.
