Aggressive Black Bear Shuts Morris County Park
A Morris County park is temporarily closed due to an “aggressive” bear that approached visitors on at least one occasion, authorities said. The bear was sighted in a frequently traveled area at Tourne County Park in Denville and Boonton Township Tuesday, according to the Morris County Park Police Department. The incident took place Saturday, May 15, during an East End game at Newfield Park in Bridgeport, said Scott Appleby, director of Emergency Management. A 72-year-old man was taken to a local hospital with a head injury after he fell and hit a rock at Pyramid Mountain County Park Tuesday afternoon, authorities said. A family member told police that the man stumbled into a tree before tripping to the ground and hitting his head on a rock just after 4:45 p.m., Morris County Parks Lt. Remains Found In Bergen County Park Are Animal, Authorities Say
UPDATE: Bones found in a Bergen County park on Saturday belonged to an animal, authorities told Daily Voice. The bones turned up in Saddle River County Park in Glen Rock late Saturday afternoon, after most parks in New Jersey were reopened amid the coronavirus pandemic. Stamford Police Launching Parks Enforcement Unit
After complaints and concerns from residents about crime taking place in Stamford parks, Mayor David Martin announced Wednesday that the Stamford Police Department is launching a Parks Enforcement Unit. The specialized unit, led by Capt. Thomas Lombardo will be responsible for the enforcement of state statutes and city rules and regulations in Stamford parks.
