Little Ferry Nightlife Icon DJ Ammo Dies Suddenly, Shockwaves Spread Through NYC Club Scene
Friends, family, and fans are mourning the sudden loss of Mossna M. Varasteh, a Bergen County native known worldwide as DJ Ammo, whose reach spanned from New York City to Asia.
Varasteh, 42, died on Tuesday, July 8. He had gone to bed, gotten up around 5 a.m., gone back to sleep and was found unresponsive just hours later, his loved ones said. An exact cause has not yet been identified.
Ammo had recently returned from performances in Japan, Germany, Amsterdam, and Aruba, and was still DJing major New York City events just weeks before his passing.

Mount Olive Mayor’s Son-In-Law, Troy Livesey, Dies Suddenly At 37
Troy Livesey, a well-liked bagel shop employee and son-in-law of Mount Olive mayor Joe Nicastro, died on Monday, July 7, due to unknown medical reasons, Nicastro said. He was 37 years old.
Livesey grew up in Ringwood and graduated from Lakeland Regional High School, his obituary on the William Leber Funeral Home website says.
He is being remembered for his kind heart, caring spirit, and sense of humor, Nicastro wrote on a GoFundMe page he organized for his family. This is the second tragedy for the mayor and his family this year: His granddaughter Wrenna died of cancer in January.

A York man known for his loyalty, love of music, and devotion to family died unexpectedly just months before welcoming his first child, according to his obituary.
Jerry Edward Michalak Jr., 37, died at WellSpan York Hospital on Saturday, June 28, 2025, the John W. Keffer Funeral Home announced.
Jerry grew up in Dover and graduated from Northeastern Senior High School in 2006. He proudly served in the National Guard and was described as a kind and generous soul.
