Parking Just Got Easier In West New York
It just became easier to park in West New York. The Hudson County town recently celebrated the grand opening of a newly-constructed parking deck at 51st Street, adding 500 new parking spaces. The deck was financed through almost $12 million in municipal bonds and funding from the American Rescue Act. The town is also planning parking decks on 57th and 67th Streets. Former Ramapo Supervisor Set To Be Released From Federal Prison System
Former Ramapo Town Supervisor Christopher St. Lawrence is due to be released after having been in the federal prison system for more than two years. St. Lawrence, 69, was convicted of 20 counts of securities fraud and conspiracy on May 19, 2017, following a four-week trial in federal court in White Plains. His release is scheduled for Friday, May 1. His conviction was a first for securities fraud in connection with municipal bonds in a scheme to finance a baseball stadium. St. Lawrence Due To Start Prison Term
After two months getting his affairs in order, convicted former Ramapo town Supervisor Christopher St. Lawrence will begin life in a federal prison on Thursday. According to the U.S. Attorney's Office of the Southern District, Thursday is the official start date of his 2 1/2 years in prison for securities and wire fraud and conspiracy. St. Lawrence, of Wesley Hills, was sentenced to 30 months, which could be reduced by 54 days a year for good behavior under federal rules, was also fined $75,000.
