Driver Escapes After Car Plunges Into Pond In Somers Amid Heavy Rain
A driver had to escape after their vehicle became submerged in a pond in Westchester, prompting a multi-agency emergency response, fire officials said. The incident happened on Wednesday, March 5, a little before 7 p.m., when a driver crashed into Mill Pond in Somers and was reported to be trapped in the car amid a rainstorm, the Somers Volunteer Fire Department said. Shrewsbury Re-opens One Pond, Closes Another
While Shrewsbury’s Dean Park Pond has reopened, the Rotary Park Pond is reaming closed. Both ponds had been closed to visitors due to high levels of bacteria in the water. Dean Park Pond, off Main Street, had been closed for weeks before town officials reopened it on Thursday, Aug. 13. Fishing can now resume on the pond, but swimming or wading ist still not allowed Rotary Park Pond, off Old Mill Pond Road, was closed on Thursday, Aug. 13 as laboratory testing showed high levels of E.
