Born in Livingston, Abena grew up in East Orange and Paterson. She graduated from Passaic County Technical Institute in Wayne, where she was a member of the National Honor Society, the Christian Health Association, and the Health Occupation Student Association. One Dead In Paterson Fire: Authorities One person was killed in a two-alarm fire in an abandoned building in Paterson early Thursday, Feb. 29, authorities said.  At 3:30 a.m., firefighters were on scene at 69 Mercer St., Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia Valdes, Paterson Police Department Officer In Charge Isa Abbassi, and Paterson Fire Chief Alex Alicea said. Paterson Opening City Residents' Coronavirus Testing Site A coronavirus testing center for Paterson residents only will open this coming Monday, May 4, Mayor Andre Sayegh announced Wednesday. In partnership with Dr. Richard Afanonja, FastMed Urgent Care, and KeyToHealth.com Telemedicine, the testing center will provide positive/negative swab testing and telemedicine, the mayor said. The site will be in the Barnert Subacute Rehabilitation Center lot on East 32nd Street off Broadway. City officials on Thursday will officially announce the requirements for testing at the new site.
