A major merger in the auto repair industry is out of the shop and complete. Mavis Tire has finalized its acquisition of Midas from TBC Corporation, the company announced on Monday, June 16. The purchase boosts Mavis Tire's retail network to more than 3,500 stores across the US and Canada. Midas will keep its name and continue operating from its headquarters in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida. Mavis Tire Express Services Corp. is based in White Plains, New York. Western Mass Police Ask Public For Info After Robbery At Mavis Tire
Police in Berkshire County are asking for the public's help to find out who robbed Mavis Tire on Thursday evening, Oct. 19. Pittsfield police were called to the Merrill Road business in Pittsfield just after 7:45 p.m. after someone broke into the building and swiped an undisclosed amount of cash, authorities said. Police said earlier news reports that said this was an armed robbery are untrue. No weapon was used in the robbery, police said. Luciano Viera Dos Santos, 28, was driving a black pickup truck towing an excavator on a flatbed on Glen Road toward Main Street in Sparta when its brakes failed around 9 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 23, Sparta Police said. A Morris County man police say was involved in a Mercedes ID number swap scheme was arrested after a tip from local repair technicians. Nicolas Bedoya Ramirez, 20, dropped off a vehicle for repair at Mavis Tire on Route 46 in Rockaway Township, local police said Saturday. Technicians contacted officers after the parts they ordered based on the vehicle’s VIN did not fit, police said. Police found that the car’s VIN had been switched with a VIN from a similar but older model vehicle, they said.
