NJ Transit Train With 320 On Board Strikes Truck In Fair Lawn, Delays Reported
A New Jersey Transit train struck a truck in Fair Lawn Monday evening, June 9 causing delays of up to 30 minutes on the Bergen County Line, officials said. The crash occurred around 5:18 p.m. when Train 1165, which left Hoboken at 4:51 p.m., hit an unoccupied truck near the west end of Broadway Station, according to an NJ Transit spokesperson. There were no reported injuries to the 320 customers and crew on board, the spokesperson said. A woman was struck and killed by a out-of-service passenger train Friday morning in Garfield, authorities confirmed. There were no customers aboard the NJ Transit train when the woman was struck at Van Winkle Avenue off Chestnut Street at 9:39 a.m., NJ Transit Senior Public Information Officer Everett Merrill said. A man was taken to the hospital in critical condition after being struck by a commuter train in Paterson Thursday night, NJ Transit said. The 1134 Main Bergen County Line train left Suffern at 10:30 p.m. bound for arrival in Hoboken at 10:59 p.m., NJT’s Kate Thompson said.
