A Westchester community is coming together to help cover funeral expenses for beloved news publisher Delfim Heusler, whose sudden death earlier this week has left his friends, colleagues, and readers in mourning.
A GoFundMe campaign, created on Wednesday, Aug. 13 by friend Carol Daly, seeks to raise $6,000 to give Heusler "a proper funeral." As of Thursday, Aug. 15, more than $5,200 has been donated.
Heusler, who died on Sunday, Aug. 10, at the age of 54, was remembered by Daly as “a dear friend to so many” and “like a son."

A local lawmaker on Long Island is accusing her colleagues of retaliation after an unexpected vote led to her entire staff being fired.
The Huntington Town Board, by a vote of 4-1, eliminated all council staff positions, citing a push for "efficient government," during a meeting on Tuesday, evening Feb. 11.

Keith Olkewicz, Jersey City Paraprofessional, Dies At 37: 'Blessing Of Decency'
Keith Olkewicz, a Jersey City native who returned to work at the district he graduated from, recently died at the age of 37, the district announced is a statement.
"The early death of Keith Olkewicz, an employee and colleague, is a shocking loss," Superintendent Dr. Norman Fernandez said.

Astorino Deputy Named Chief Of Staff In Clarkstown
A high-profile member of Westchester County Executive Rob Astorino's inner circle has been hired by Clarkstown Supervisor George Hoehmann as his chief of staff and director of finance.
