69-Year-Old Man Killed During Attempted Carjacking In Kennett Township: DA
A 69-year-old man was stabbed to death during an attempted carjacking in Kennett Township, Chester County prosecutors announced on Monday, Aug. 11. Javier Rivera, 33, of Kennett Square, was arrested in the early morning hours and charged with First Degree Murder and related offenses, according to the Chester County District Attorney’s Office. He is being held without bail at Chester County Prison. The charges stem from the evening of Sunday, Aug. 10, when Rivera allegedly tried to steal a BMW parked in a driveway. Support is surging for a longtime Bucks County firefighter killed in a hit-and-run crash earlier this week. More than $2,700 in funeral funds had been raised on a GoFundMe campaign as of Friday morning for 53-year-old Daniel Santiago, a 30-year firefighter and life member of Goodwill Hose Company #3 in Bristol Borough.
