Drunk Driver Had 3 Kids In Car With Him On I-87 In Clarkstown: Nysp A 36-year-old man was arrested for driving drunk with three young children in his car on the New York Thruway in Rockland County, police said.  The arrest happened in Clarkstown just after midnight on Saturday, July 5, on I-87 South, New York State Police announced on Monday, July 7.  At that time, troopers pulled over a 2025 Acura around 12:12 a.m. for speeding. Tree Falls Onto I-87 In Woodbury, Causes Crash Emergency responders raced to the New York Thruway in Orange County over the weekend after a tree fell on the interstate, causing a crash in the process.  The incident happened on Saturday, July 5, when a tree collapsed into I-87 South in Woodbury near mile marker 47.1, according to the Woodbury Fire Department.  A car then collided with the tree. Minor injuries were reported.  The incident caused traffic backups in the area as crews responded to the crash.

Storm Ida: NY Thruway Reopens Storm Ida: NY Thruway Reopens
Storm Ida: NY Thruway Reopens The New York State Thruway has reopened after immense flooding from Storm Ida closed down the busy roadway for hours through the Hudson Valley. As of 2 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 2, the Thruway Authority announced that all lanes are now open on I-87 south between exit 14 and exit 12.  Two lanes are open northbound - the right lane remains closed at exit 12 due to flooding.  Delays exist from ponding water and traffic. The roadway had been closed for hours in Rockland and Westchester County due to heavy flooding. State Police say motorists should use caution.
