Dutchess Awards $150K For These Public Services Projects
Dutchess County has been awarded with a total of $150,000 to initiate a series of public service projects, Dutchess County Executive Marc Molinaro announced. The grants will be rewarded through Dutchess County’s 2019 Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Program, which will address critical public service needs throughout the county. The awards come as part of nearly $1.5 million in funding intended to improve accessibility, expand affordable housing options and address other urgent needs. Mahwah Police Heroes Honored For Reviving Center For Food Action Manager, Donate Defibrillator
HEROES: A 62-year-old warehouse manager at Mahwah's Center for Food Action site was in full cardiac arrest when a group of township police officers responded last July. Using CPR and an automated external defibrillator, they kept Babar Khawaja of Ramsey alive. His pulse returned and he began breathing en route to the hospital, said Detective Michael Grassi, the president of Mahwah PBA Local #143. “B.K.,” as he’s called, made a full recovery and returned to work.
