A Frederick man who pepper-sprayed a mother and her 8-year-old daughter during a brazen armed robbery is set to serve 17 years in prison, prosecutors announced. Nicholas Albanes, 42, was sentenced on Tuesday, Feb. 18, to 20 years, with all but 17 years suspended, in the Division of Corrections after pleading guilty to armed robbery last month. A pedestrian who was struck by a vehicle crossing the road near a Maryland apartment complex was killed and a second reportedly had to be airlifted to an area hospital, according to officials.
