Man Killed After Striking Trees On Garden State Parkway In Hazlet: Njsp A 29-year-old Toms River man was killed in a crash on the Garden State Parkway in Monmouth County, early Wednesday, May 14, authorities said. At 5:08 a.m., troopers responded to the Garden State Parkway North in Hazlet Township after a Kia Forte traveling northbound, lost directional control, veered off the roadway to the left and struck multiple trees, Jeffrey Lebron, a spokesman for the New Jersey State Police said. On Tuesday, Feb. 25 at 9:50 a.m., officers received a frantic call about a dog, Taffy, stuck in the lake at Veteran's Park, Hazlet Township police said. The lake  had a thin sheet of ice and the dog was struggling to make it back to shore, police said.
