Gift Cards Will Be Offered During Norwalk Police Gun Buyback Event
In an effort to help keep guns off the streets and out of the hands of criminals, a gun buyback event has been organized between law enforcement and civic organizations that will offer gift cards in return for unwanted or old guns. The Norwalk Gun Buyback event will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 19, at the Norwalk Police Department at 1 Monroe St., Norwalk. Gun Buyback Program Scheduled In Orange County
Some guns will soon be off Orange County streets as state and local law enforcement team up for a gun buyback program as officials attempt to get dangerous weapons off area streets. Orange County District Attorney David Hoovler announced that his office was teaming with Newburgh Police and New York State Police for the program, which is “designed to allow people to safely surrender guns and receive a Walmart gift card.” The program will be held between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. on Saturday, June 22 at the City of Newburgh Community Center on Washington Street. More Than 300 Guns Now Off The Streets Through Essex Buyback Program
A total of 332 guns, including assault weapons, were purchased over the weekend through a buyback program sponsored by the Essex County Prosecutor's Office and the nonprofit Essex County Bar Foundation, which largely funded the effort. “For us to get 332 guns off the street means we just avoided 332 tragedies,” said Newark Public Safety Director Anthony F.
