West Reading Factory Explosion Caused By Gas Leak From Cracked Pipe: NTSB
The deadly explosion at the RM Palmer chocolate factory in West Reading was the result of a fracture in an old natural gas pipe, according to a new report from the National Transportation Safety Board. The blast, which killed seven employees and laid waste to an entire borough block on March 24, was caused by natural gas "leaking from a DuPont Aldyl A service tee that was installed in 1982," NTSB said. A car crashed into a Fairfield County apartment building, striking a gas line, which set off a fire that damaged four units. The incident took place in Trumbull around 8:30 a.m., Sunday, March 26 at the Royce of Trumbull, on Avalon Gates Road. The vehicle, driven by a 31-year-old Hartford County woman from New Britain, struck the gas lines of the building causing the fire to ignite and burn a section of the building, said Lt. Car Into Building Causes Gas Leak In York: Authorities
A car slammed into rowhomes in York causing a gas leak on Wednesday, March 15, 2023, authorities say. The car hit three homes in the 200 block of Chestnut Street near Maple Avenue and North Pine Street at 2:19 p.m., according to emergency dispatch. The front of the homes suffered some exterior damage, authorities say. Columba Gas came to the area and the leak is under control, authorities told Daily Voice. The status of the driver is unknown. Gas Leaks Close Central Jersey Middle School
A series of gas leaks has closed a school in Central Jersey. The Carl Sandburg Middle School Friday in the Old Bridge Township School District will temporarily switch to remote learning while the gas leaks are fixed, the superintendent said. Classes for students at Carl Sandburg Middle School — which serves approximately 980 students in grades 6 through 8 — have been canceled through Tuesday, according to a video message from Superintendent David Cittadino. A Lehigh County driver crashed into a building and caused a gas leak, authorities announced Thursday, Nov 10. First responders in Emmaus Borough were called to United World Travel Service at 1031 Chestnut Street for a reported car accident just after 12:30 p.m., officials said.
