A recall has been issued for multiple brands of eye ointment products due to the "lack of sterility assurance at the facility" of the manufacturer during an inspection conducted by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). "For those patients who use these products, there is a potential risk of eye infections or related harm," the FDA said. "These products are intended to be sterile. The FDA is warning consumers to check their medicine cabinets following a recall of eye drops by two of the nation's largest pharmacies. Eyedrops and ointments sold at Walmart and Walgreens are being recalled due to concerns the products may not be sterile.
