NY Expands Crossbow Use To Battle 'Overgrown' Deer Herds: Here's What To Know New York hunters will soon have more access to crossbows to help manage what state officials say is a skyrocketing deer population.  Gov. Kathy Hochul has signed into law a bill sponsored by State Senator Pete Harckham and Assemblymember Carrie Woerner that legalizes crossbows for big game hunting anywhere longbows are permitted.  The new law, which took effect immediately upon the Governor’s signature on Tuesday, Aug. 26, also reforms outdated equipment standards and establishes safety buffer zones around homes and other occupied buildings, according to Harckham and Woe…

Controversial Pipeline Expansion: Rockland Becomes First NY County To Oppose Project In a move against fossil fuel infrastructure, Rockland has become the first county in New York to formally oppose a proposed fracked gas pipeline expansion that would impact the lower Hudson Valley.  Earlier this week, the Rockland County Legislature passed a resolution against “Project Maple,” a controversial expansion of the Algonquin Pipeline proposed by energy giant Enbridge. Kermit The Frog Confirmed As 2025 UMD Commencement Speaker — And The Internet Has Best Reaction It's not easy being green, or delivering an epic commencement speech.  But Kermit the Frog, a Peabody Award winner and best-selling author (and muppet) will do both in May, when he will return to the campus where he was first brought to life (by creator and alum Jim Henson, Class of 1960) to deliver the commencement speech in May. The school made the announcement this week, and the internet's reaction is everything you could've ever hoped for. "Kermencement," one absolute genius commented on UMD's post on Facebook. Kennedy Jr. has dropped out of the presidential race, that hasn't stopped him from stirring yet another odd animal-related controversy thanks to a resurfaced interview with his daughter. In the 2012 interview with Town & Country Magazine, Kennedy's daughter, Kick, revealed that her father, the former independent presidential candidate who is now 70 years old, rushed to Squaw Island in Hyannis Port, Massachusetts, in 1994 when she was just 6 years old.  This was after he heard that a dead whale had washed up on the shore. After an hours-long trip, Kennedy…
