Nearly 10K Without Power In Suffolk, Nassau Counties As Blizzard Dumps Snow On LI Thousands of customers are without power across Long Island as of Monday afternoon, Feb. 23, as a powerful blizzard continued to hammer the region.  According to PSEG Long Island’s outage map at 12:40 p.m., 2,133 customers in Nassau County were without electricity out of more than 479,000 served. In Suffolk County, 7,758 customers were in the dark out of nearly 640,000.  The hardest-hit area was the Rockaway Peninsula, where 3,020 customers, about 8 percent of those served, were without power. The incident occurred at 32 Farview Ave., where fallen wires sparked a fire in the roadway and ignited a small grass fire, according to Paramus Police Chief Robert Guidetti. As of press time, more than 600 residents were without power. Emergency crews from the Paramus Police and Fire Departments responded to the scene and immediately shut down traffic.
