Styrofoam Ban Approved For Norwalk Styrofoam packing will soon be a thing of the past for one of Fairfield County’s largest cities. In an effort to aid the environment, the Common Council voted unanimously this week to ban styrofoam in Norwalk, effective as of April 22, 2020. According to studies, styrofoam is responsible for approximately 30 percent of all landfill volume nationwide and 20 percent of the litter in bodies of water. Community Comes Together For Saw Mill River Cleanup The Saw Mill River is flowing like never before, following an all-out effort by 300 volunteers on Earth Day weekend for Groundwork Hudson Valley’s Great Saw Mill River Cleanup.  Folks from all walks of life pitched in to pick up over 5,000 pounds of trash, including two dirt bikes, several mattresses and a multitude of car parts.
