14 Charged With DWI In Suffolk July 4th Enforcement Operation
More than a dozen drivers were arrested by Suffolk County Police officers during a special Fourth of July DWI enforcement detail. Between Friday, July 4, and Monday, July 6, officers were on patrol and conducting DWI checkpoints in the area of several busy downtown areas in Suffolk County, including Patchogue and Huntington. During the patrol, a total of 14 drivers were found to be intoxicated on either drugs or alcohol. Seven motorists have been charged following a Stop DWI checkpoint enforcement, police say. The Town of Ramapo Police Department say they allocated additional officers for DWI enforcement between Friday, May 3 and Sunday, May 5. State Police To Ramp Up DWI Patrols Over Super Bowl Weekend
The New York State Police Department is working alongside local departments across the state to increase DWI enforcement over Super Bowl weekend. The “STOP-DWI” campaign includes underage drinking enforcement, increased patrols and sobriety checkpoints in an effort to deter and identify impaired drivers. Funded by the Governor’s Traffic Safety Committee, the campaign runs from Saturday, Feb. 2 until 2 4 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 4.
