The Lakewood community is rallying to support an art teacher who lost her home to a Toms River condo fire. Ashley Antuna-Mayer taught at Piner Elementary School in the Lakewood Public School District and is moving to Spruce Street Elementary School this school year, according to Meghan Dineen of Beachwood, who organized a GoFundMe. CT Condo Fire Kills One
One person was killed during a fire at a condo complex in Connecticut. The blaze broke out around 3:08 a.m., Wednesday, Nov. 3, at the Hartford County complex located at 71 Russell Avenue in Plainville. Plainville Fire Marshal Ron Divert said a large fire was coming from one condo in the 10-unit complex and reached into units located to either side. The deceased resident was found in the unit in which the fire originated, Divert said. Unattended Pot Ignites Westwood Condo Fire
Firefighters from several Pascack Valley companies rallied to the aid of their Westwood colleagues during a Friday morning kitchen fire at a local condo. Rapid response helped firefighters contain the two-alarm blaze, which apparently was ignited just after 11 a.m. by an unattended pot on a stove in a first-floor unit at the Roxbury condominium complex on Fairview Avenue. 30 Units Destroyed, Firefighter Hospitalized In Riverdale Condo Fire
A fire at a Riverdale condo complex displaced residents of nearly 30 units and sent a firefighter to the hospital for evaluation, authorities said. Everyone made it out of Building 4 at The Grande safely when officers arrived around 10:15 p.m. Friday to find a fourth-floor balcony in flames, Riverdale police said in a news release. A firefighter was taken to the hospital as a precaution, authorities said. Riverdale firefighters and surrounding agencies knocked the blaze down before it spread to the roof, police said. The Red Cross was helping the displaced residents.
