The remains of a Centre County man who was the subject of a Missing Endangered Person Advisory last December have been located on his property, and no foul play is suspected in his death, authorities announced on Tuesday, Oct. 21.
Leon Bowman, 78, was found dead on Sept. 9, 2025 on his Curtin Township property, Centre County Coroner Scott Sayers said. Bowman, who was 77 when first reported missing, was identified through dental records and an anthropological analysis, Sayers noted in a release.

Pedestrian Struck Dead On PA Rt 144 ID’d: PA State Police
A 73-year-old man was killed when he was struck by a car in Snow Shoe Township, Centre County, Pennsylvania State Police announced on Monday, Aug. 11.
Thomas Hipple, of Snow Shoe, was crossing State Route 144 near 730 E. Sycamore Road when a 2016 Hyundai Accent hit him head-on around 9:09 a.m., troopers said.
The two-lane asphalt road is posted at 45 mph and divided by a double yellow line, according to investigators.
Hipple was pronounced dead at the scene. His body came to rest in the grass on the north side of the road, facing west, police said.
